According to OSHA, “a ‘fit test’ tests the seal between the N95 mask’s, or respirator's, facepiece and your face.” It typically takes 15-20 minutes to complete and should be performed when this type of mask is first used and then at least annually.
For Qualitative Fit Testing: (QLFT) One Tech can test 15 subjects per hour. Two Tech’s can test 30 subjects per hour. NOTE: A "fit test" is one-respirator, per person. Provision 1910.134(f)(7) states that a respirator will pass a quantitative fit test if the fit factor is 100 or greater for half facepieces, and 500 or greater for full facepieces. The fit factor is 10 times more than the assigned protection factor, so an assigned protection factor of 10 is equal to a fit factor of 100.
